I’ve been dancing in my Sseko Designs shoes (yes the ones in the photo below with the va-va voom red straps) in excitement for this day!
And. It’s. here! Yay! The Share Your Heritage Contest on Facebook.
Earlier, this year I opened up my heart and shared my story of cultural identity and my mission to inspire others to celebrate who they are and embrace all of who they are. For a few weeks & months, I was so overcome by the Facebook, phone call and email love from everyone who read my story and shared their stories with me. I never expected it. People who I’d never met shared their personal stories with me, and I was so moved! I wanted to give back to you all for supporting my journey and story…. so today I’m announcing the 2013 “Celebrate Your Heritage” contest!
I was born in Uganda, and it’s only fitting that I’m giving away a $75 gift card for Sseko Designs shoes. I discovered Sseko though Making Things Happen friend Abigail Luby of Chips and Salsa Designs. Sseko Designs is a footwear and accessories company based in Uganda that empowers Ugandan women to pursue their dreams using fashion. They produce beautiful, unique leather sandals with interchangeable fabric straps and leather bags.
