While walking through Angkor Wat in Cambodia, I came across a pack of monkeys.
In an attempt to get their attention, I tried to lure the monkeys to come up to me using a small banana. At the sight of the bananas, most of the monkeys scurried away. I suspected they didn’t trust tourists. Suddenly, one small baby monkey broke away from the pack despite its mother’s angry calls and jumped sky high, reaching for the banana with 100% of its energy. That’s me holding the banana as the determined monkey leaps up for it.
That monkey has no idea what an impression he or she (I’m assuming it’s a she) left on me. These past weeks, I’ve been trying to emulate Lady Monkey and praying to let go of the fear so I can move forward in my life. But I’m scared. It’s safer to stay with the pack where it’s familiar. BUT I also know I’ve regretted the moments when I didn’t seize the moment, more so than the times I’ve risked something and it didn’t work out. That is a fact. Taking risks makes you grow and conquer fears.
So today, I’m thinking about fearless Lady Monkey. What she’s doing, where she is and I’m inspired by her courage and audacity to take a risk. Today I’m just going to take that next step and see what happens… I’ll keep you posted.

And because everything’s better with animals and yummy fruit, here are a couple more shots. Check out the size of that mango. I’m thinking about it too!

Duke, hello. Good to meet you. I’m so glad you checked out the site. Thanks for the inspiration. I took the leap and it was scary but so worth it. Getting ready to blog about it.
Hey Petronella,
I got your card from Nkrumah’s networking event last month and thought your card was so cool that I checked out your website.
I like your work! This posting was great and I know what you mean about the fear. Go get that banana !!! 🙂
