Last year, I shot several natural hair brides and was inspired by their natural hair hairstyles, so I compiled this list of the best beautiful natural hair hairstyles from past client weddings and editorials.
My Natural Hair Journey
After talking to several friends and clients, I decided to being the natural hair transition journey myself. It’ll be 1 year in March. In the beginning I struggled with what to do with my hair because it was still relaxed, breaking at the ends and not looking so cute anymore. Additionally when it comes to my own hair, I’m a get up and go kinda girl, very low maintenance. My go to style was large Marley braids, which ended up being so large and overwhelming I had to sleep with my head propped up a few inches in the air on the pillow because they were so big and pulling on my hair edges. Those lasted only 1 month because I was also in the busy season of photography and moving around with 3 – 4 lbs on my head was not practical.
Luckily, after doing a shoot for Khamit Kinks and talking to the owner Anu Prestonia, I discovered Senegalese twists and a few weeks later got medium length Senegalese twists that I’ve been rocking ever since and love because the way that ladies at Khamit Kinks do them they weigh nothing on my head and can be easily styled into different options.
Ever since starting this natural hair journey, which I’m completely open to going back to relaxed hair if I discover natural hair lifestyle doesn’t work for me, I’ve been exploring various natural hair styles especially the best looks for a wedding day.
