In 2002, I kept having this recurring image of clear waters and a beach.
It would pop up in my mind at the most random times. I’d never in my life been to the beach or the Caribbean, so I didn’t understand where it was coming from. A few months later with little to no money, I spontaneously decided to take advantage of an amazing travel deal and book my first solo trip to Puerto Rico.
And the image finally made sense.
I explored Mayaguez, Farjado, Ponce and San Juan. It was beautiful. I ate fresh fish and rice and beans every day. I explored old San Juan. I quickly acclimated to the random 2pm rain showers followed by bursting sunshine. I forgot that the economy was bad, and I still didn’t have a job and little money.
One day while lying on the beach watching the waves crash on the beach, I realized that the picture in my head was right there in front of me. I realized that dreams can come true if you only visualize and put action towards them. I took 10 photos of the beach and pasted them together.
Now this photo below hangs in my living room as a reminder that there’s power in visualizing your dreams.
I truly believe that images and photographs are powerful.
