On our way back from my sister’s traditional wedding in Uganda, we spent a few days in Dubai.   I planned an itinerary that included a 4 wheel safari ridethrough the sand dunes, shopping at the gold souk and riding camels.  Oh, it was a grand plan but… when we got there, it was humid, blazing, back-of-an-exhaust-pipe-blowing-all-over-on-you 24/7 HOT.Those plans went out the door, so instead we hung out by the pool and Persian Gulf.  I suspected the Gulf would be a little warm, but it was more like a HOT bath.  So my sister, her husband and I played a game.  Dip into the Gulf for 5 min, then run back and dive into the ice, cold pool to cool off.  I’m sure it wasn’t healthy but it was fun!

Yesterday, I felt like I was in HOT water.  Someone gave me some feedback that made my ears sting and my blood boil.  I felt like I was back in Dubai swimming in hot water.  I wanted to get up and walk away to cool off but I stayed…. and listened.  I processed my feelings right there and then and in the process cooled down.  This person shared their perspective in order to make me grow but more importantly because that person cared.

Below are pics of the sun setting in Dubai.   Look how HOT the sunset looks.  I’ve never seen a sunset like that!

That’s me above with my camera in hand right before I dove into the Persian Gulf.
