Within the concrete jungle of New York City, there are a few exclusive wedding locations that offer breathtaking, natural beauty, but in Brooklyn, the best place for romantic, natural beauty, it’s inside the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. This is the place you come to find breathtaking beauty, peace and tranquility within New York City. Here are the 5 top reasons why couples (and their wedding photography studio) love to celebrate at this wedding venue.

1. Gorgeous Photo Ops

When we do photo sessions at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, it’s always a magical dream. I love the flowery explosions of color, the lush expanses of green lawn, and the romantic trees casting their beautiful boughs above the pathways. This is a wedding photographer’s dream venue. The wedding party looks great here because, honestly, who doesn’t look good in a stunning garden setting? Imagine the bride and groom kissing beneath a pink-blossomed cherry tree in the springtime. In the summer they could pose beside the quiet, reflective waters of Lily Pond. Imagine them embracing on a lawn bright with autumn foliage. So many beautiful memories are waiting to be photographed at Brooklyn Botanic Garden.  And fun trivia fact, the TV show Gossip Girls was filmed here – Lily andRufus’ wedding, to be exact.  If you’re looking to get ready nearby, we recommend The Wythe Hotel.

2. Cherry Blossom Season

A cherry blossom wedding is so unique and beautiful! Beginning in late March to early April and ending in mid-May, the flowering cherry trees in the Garden bloom. Think pink! The only catch is that if you want your wedding day during Cherry Blossom season, you’ll have to book your wedding far ahead of time. See their website’s Cherry Blossom page for more information.

3. The Palm House and The Atrium

Of course, a wedding is a wedding, and it requires a ceremony and a reception to go along with all those wonderful photos. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden has two buildings perfect for your wedding venue needs. Both buildings also offer outdoor spaces for ceremonies and celebrations.

When you rent the historic Palm House, you might choose to say “I do” in Cherry Esplanade or Magnolia Plaza. If a romantic outdoor wedding is your dream, then this is the ideal place for you. Cocktails are served on the relaxing Lily Pond Terrace, and then your guests can further celebrate inside the iconic Palm House with its beautiful glass walls and custom-made chandelier. Should the weather turn inclement, the experienced and professional wedding coordinator will set up your ceremony indoors, and your guests won’t even know those weren’t your plans all along! The Palm House seats up to 275 guests.

The Atrium also features glass walls from floor to ceiling, perfect for looking out onto resplendent Cherry Walk. The unique feature of the Atrium is its living roof of native grasses and wildflowers. This venue space offers elegance, luxury, and intimacy. It seats up 130 guests.

Brides can rest easy knowing that this venue does provide a bridal dressing room with a private bathroom.

4. The Location: A Garden Oasis In the City

The biggest draw of this wedding venue is its location. Brooklyn Botanic Garden is conveniently located right inside the city, but once you’re in it, you don’t feel like you’re in the city. You feel like you’ve entered a heavenly garden oasis which magically appeared. Be assured that it is not truly magical; this venue has three actual, physical entrances in Brooklyn, which are:

For anyone using a GPS to get to the Garden, use this address 990 Washington Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11225. All entrances are easy to access via public transportation. Public parking is available for a fee, or you can hire a valet service for your guests.

5.  The Patina Culinary Excellence

Finally, the reason couples love this wedding venue has to do with food served to perfection. I love the Patina staff and the food is always incredible.  Brooklyn Botanic Garden requires wedding events to be catered by their own catering service. Fortunately, their service is Patina Restaurant Group, which serves world-class cuisine with genuinely good hospitality. Their servers are excellent at making sure all guests are taken care of.

The Petronella Photography team has experience shooting at this spectacular wedding venue, and we would love to be your wedding photography team!
