If you love modern multicultural love stories, you’ll love Sade And Ayo’s luxury Nigerian wedding at the Bellevue Conference and Event Center.
The beautiful love story between Sade and Ayo began all the way back in middle school when they first met. As with many love stories, this one includes a time apart, when Sade pursued her fashion PR career in New York and Ayo spent time in Scotland and England. But distance didn’t keep these true lovers apart. On July 29, 2017, we had the honor of capturing Sade and Ayo’s Nigerian luxury wedding celebration at the Bellevue Conference and Event Center surrounded by 300 of their friends and family.
Why settle for only 1 dress on your most special day? Sade chose 3!
- A classic Peter Langner bespoke gown
- A custom-made Nigerian dress by Tope FnR paid tribute to Sade’s culture
- A Vera Wang dress made dancing after the wedding just a little more amazing
Although the number of garments worn by the bride and groom may seem like an indication that this wedding went over-the-top in décor, I can assure you that the simple elegance of their tastes created an aura of bliss rather than excess. Sade says, “I don’t love bright colors and I am a huge fan of simple yet elegant.” This philosophy played itself out in the use of only baby’s breath for flowers and pillar candles lining the church aisle. Gold and ecru accents set off the baby’s breath beautifully. Geteey of Platinum Weddings gets the kudos for her impeccable decor meeting Sade’s elegant but not fussy expectations perfectly.
Food Reflects Culture
Both bride and groom are Nigerian, and they honored their heritage with a traditional Nigerian wedding held two days before the wedding, which we had the pleasure of capturing. Sade’s aunt is a caterer, so she made sure all the food reflected Sade and Ayo’s Yoruba culture and was presented in a very elegant manner.
The talented aunt, Deb Akinola, designed the wedding cake, which was then brought to life by The Cake Courtesan in Maryland with the couple’s monogram embellished in the middle tier.
Music and More
The wedding day ended with a very fun, traditional money dance. The amazing DJ DonX from Maryland, played “Say You Won’t Let Go” by James Arthur for the first dance, which transitioned into a remix with Luca Schreiner, at which point the bride and groom grabbed their friends and everyone danced together.
We all know photography is the most fun thing in the world, which is why Sade and Ayo had a photo booth in the hall so the guests could grab a fun picture of themselves to take home.
Advice to Other Brides
The bride has some very practical words of wisdom to share with other couples planning their wedding. She says, “Save, stay organized, plan, and save again!” Planning and hiring the right creative Partners certainly ensures an effortless experience and a beautiful and meaningful wedding day. Sade and Ayo’s Creative Partners are listed below.
Sade and Ayo’s wedding was just one of many fabulous love stories I have helped bring to life during my career as a wedding photographer.
