I seriously heart Abby of Juicy Looks New York New Jersey Wedding Makeup Artist extraordinaire, not only because she’s a phenomenal makeup artist who made me look fab for the 2013 #NYCBridalshoot, but also because she’s easy breezy fun to be around.
She has a gift for making all skin tones look gorgeous and flawless, which is rare since most makeup artists I come across aren’t familiar with how to match the correct foundation with skin tone and still make it look naturally radiant. My experience has been my face is a different color from my body or I end up looking ashy… just saying.
Additionally, Abby specializes in doing an African gele or African head wraps. Stay tuned. We have a special collaboration at coming up where I’ll break it down for you.
I’m not sure what we were laughing about, but this is one of my fav shots from our session together.

How did you get started as a makeup artist? I started Juicy Looks with a great passion for makeup, and although it was rough in the beginning, I had a lot to learn about the business. I took the little bit of knowledge that I had already and took a few makeup courses to sharpen my knowledge and ability to do more. I also did a lot of research and a lot of networking to put myself out there.
Advice to newly engaged couples: My advice to newly engaged couple is to take things one day at a time. It is always good to hire a wedding planner that will take so much stress off wedding planning. I will also advise that you book your vendors as soon as you pick your date(s), especially if your wedding is going to be on a holiday weekend.
Best thing a client has done for you: Pray for me.
How do you incorporate a client’s culture into what you do? By learning the culture (from the client) and by understanding the way things are done. By also doing my own research about makeup artistry in my client’s culture.
