At the beginning of this year, I asked God to show me how to better walk in love (Ephesians 5:2)
To expand my heart in love so that I could give more in love and connect with people from a place of love. To me, that meant being fully present in conversations with others and really listening to their words, trusting God completely, sharing and encouraging others, setting better boundaries, having the tough conversations and fully expressing what was in my heart in the moment.
Wow… the journey has been eye-opening, challenging but so rewarding because my heart is changing for the better, and it makes me so happy to see that love reflected in the people closest to me.
BUT what’s surprised me the most is that by giving love to others, I’ve received so much love. I honestly never expected anything back in return… but the outpouring of LOVE has been amazing. From unexpected people. At unexpected times.
It has, at times, been overwhelming. I’ve met people who’ve spoken words of love directly to my heart, which have made me break down in joy, and at times, I’ve had to take a moment to cry at the beauty of it all.
I am not perfect, but I am learning to walk in love.
