Family means a lot to me.
So when Lilly reached out to me to photograph her Bolivian-Nicaraguan family, I was uber-excited and even more so when she told me that she hadn’t taken photos with some of her family members since she was a little kid. She then shared personal stories about everyone, so when I met them, I was even more energized to capture all their fun moments.
Little Lexi wore a bright pink jumper and was the magic that brought everyone together. When I found out her favorite song was Katy Perry’s “Firework”… (which is one of my favs too) ofcourse I had to break out in song and dance. It was good times for a few minutes, but then she looked at me and with a straight face said, “I don’t want to sing this song anymore.” Even though her statement caught me off guard, I loved her honesty and the fact that she was 100% herself.
Even though bisabuela (great-grandmother) Elbita couldn’t attend the session, seeing and experiencing the closeness and love between 3 generations of the Mancilla-Torres family made my heart sing.
