“New York brought us together.”
Because Jeffrey’s a litigation lawyer & talks for a living, when he decided to propose to Sarah, he remembered she had one request: “words are cheap. Don’t tell me how you feel, show me.” So he brainstormed creative proposal ideas with The Heart BanditsΒ andΒ settled on an art lesson/proposal followed by tickets to theΒ New YorkΒ ballet.
During the painting lesson, the two of them secretly painted mini Monet’s back to back and in the corner of his, he painted the words, “will you marry me?”
Sarah isΒ KoreanΒ –Β NewZealanderΒ & Jeffrey isΒ TaiwaneseΒ – American. Because of their different cultures, they both agreed that they never would’ve met if it wasn’t forΒ New York.
I loved photographing Sarah and Jeffrey’s surprise Upper West Side marriage proposalΒ in and around Central Park.
How did you meet?Β We both work at the same firm, and we met in the office. We first became friends after attending a play and an opera together through work events.
Β 
When did you know he/she was the one? Β I knew she was the one when I first introduced her to my family and I could confidently tell them that being with Sarah made me want to be a better Christian and a better man.
What do you love about her/him? Β I love that Sarah is beautiful, kind, and has such a genuine heart for God and takes the idea of living out her faith in every sphere of her life seriously.
How did you pick the ring?Β We went to a jewelry storeΒ Jangmi JewelryΒ in the diamond district of New York together to look at designs.
What advice do you have to other guys when planning your proposal? Β Having a fun engagement story is nice, but the most important thing is being sure you are proposing to the right person.
What did you tell her to get her to the proposal location? Β I told her we were going to an art studio on the upper west side for a private class.
