When I first arrived at Grand Central Terminal, my first instinct was to look up and start photographing the ceiling, which is odd because New York’s Grand Central Terminal is bustling with all sorts of activity.
So when Stephen started proposing to Heather (while the acapella group was singing Christina Perri’s “A Thousand Years”) and pointed to the ceiling, I knew that my first instinct wasn’t a coincidence.
He told her, “when the architect first painted the ceiling, everyone told him that he’d put the stars backwards. The architect replied that they were right where they need to be because that’s how God sees them. I hope and pray God is looking at us now. It took me a long time to find you and I still get butterflies around you. Will you marry me?”
Throughout their relationship, they have had many coincidences, which has only further affirmed for them that God had a hand in bringing them together and that their love was written in the stars.
How did you meet? At our local country club where are parents golf. To be exact, the driving range where we started talking. We’ve been together for 2 years since September.
Stephen asked a “fake tourist” aka the leader of the acapella group to take a photo of them.
When did you know he/she was the one? Instantly, there was an undeniable connection between us from the start. She is without a doubt my soulmate.
What do you love about her/him? We both have the same interests and views on all aspects of life. We enjoy a lot of the activities. We both bring out the best in each other.
How did you pick the ring? I planned a secret trip to NYC and picked out a custom ring in the Diamond District from the Diamond Source.
What advice do you have to other guys when planning your proposal? When you know it is right, do it! Don’t waste out on timing being able to call the love of your life your “wife”.
What did you tell her to get her to the proposal location? She thought we were meeting my uncle for a fancy dinner in the city.
